The great fishing conditions of the last three days now moves off into the nighttime –– literally –– as the daytime majority feeding migration becomes the nighttime majority feeding migration. To replace it is the start of a new daytime feeding migration, which happens at every first-quarter moon event. That will occur tonight at 3:33 a.m. The daytime fishing and angling will suffer somewhat for the next three days. The best period of the day is on the tail end of the remnant of the last feeding migration – 4 to 7 p.m. The morning bite will be weak at best, although the largest fish of each kind are known to ignore what the masses follow as a rule, so there is a remote chance of catching a larger-than-normal fish. ...more

I recently dropped my Contender boat at Performance Marine in Lake Placid to investigate an oil leak coming from the port motor. Although I purchased the boat used, one of the reasons I bought it was because of the 4-stroke Yamaha motors and their reputation for reliability. The motors were out of warranty for over two years yet I called Yamaha to discuss the problem and see if there was a history associated with the bad lower seal. Jeff from Yamaha was very receptive and a real pleasure to talk to although he did not know if he would be able to help me. Jeff in turn contacted Performance Marine and discussed the problem with the mechanic, Broward. Long story short, Yamaha is sending me a new power head at no cost.
