Man Relates Near Death Experiences

Published: January 28, 2009

Most people do not want a close brush with death.

Michael Keleman, who spoke to the Metaphysical Society of Sun City Center Jan. 21, said he sought a second near-death-like experience after a car accident at age 18.

"The most amazing phenomena happened," said Keleman, describing the car accident. "There was a large electrostatic click and it was like frames of a movie slowed down."
Keleman said he should not be alive today, but his close brush with death opened his mind. Later, at the age of 25, he went to a meditation circle and wanted to learn more about metaphysical matters such as remote viewing, rebirthing and chakras.

According to Keleman, he took a special elixir which induced a near-death experience that left him "highly telepathic" for a few days.

"I had the experience of witnessing chakras creating patterns," he said. "I was seeing the pattern form of what we observe." He then felt as though he had entered, according to him, "an ocean of oneness."

"God is closer than your own breath," said Keleman, who lives in St. Petersburg and has an energetic therapy/healing business called Pure Light.

Jennifer Lutz of Sun City Center, the president of the Metaphysical Club, said more than a few members of the club have had near-death experiences in the past. She thought the topic would be fun. The club meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Heritage Room.

"The club is interested in raising the consciousness of the planet right now," she said.

Ed Leary of Kings Point, a former president and the program director, said lifting consciousness starts with individuals who are willing to share their wisdom. The near-death topic drew more than 30 people to the meeting.

"Metaphysics is by definition something other than physics," Leary said. "It's things you can't measure with an instrument. Scientists are baffled by things happening they can't explain through physical terms. They can only experience it personally."
Keleman said he has had a fascination with the meaning of life since he was a child.

He believes people are all headed back to a "state of unity and consciousness as an infinite being." Instead of healing, he said, people are now learning to experience transformations that create instantaneous changes.

"It's not something that needs to be a struggle," he said. "It can happen right now."

As far as near-death experiences, Keleman said there is nothing like the feeling of being one with everything. Words can become cumbersome, he said, adding that in this state, people experience divine communion and communicate without words.

Upcoming topics for the Metaphysical Society include Jan. 28, "Where Are We In Our Ascension Process?" Feb. 4 is an open discussion. Feb. 11, the topic is "Mission Possible" featuring a video and Sheldan Nidle who talks about how people may prepare for the first contact of the Galactic Federation.

Feb. 18, the topic is "New Healing Herbs from Jungles of the Amazon," while Feb. 21 is "Blood Analysis." For more information, call Leary at (813) 383-7594.
