Guests who attend the GFWC Sun City Center Woman's Club's "Fashion, Food and Fantasy" fashion show and luncheon Feb. 13 noon at Community Hall will do the honors of judging whimsical table decorations.
Monica McPhillips, the publicity chairwoman for the Woman's Club, said women will also enjoy mimosas and a gourmet lunch by Mary Stewart Catering.
"We expect a good 400 people," McPhillips said. "We have 40 tables available. Each of the tables will be decorated with different themes. Some will be Easter, Christmas, frogs, some whimsical and some serious."
She said guests will go from table to table to judge the best table decorations.
"It should be fun," she said. "It's something different than the regular fashion show."
She said Dillard's will be putting on the Spring fashion show. Tickets for the event went on sale Jan. 5.
"The models are going to be models of our club," she said. "It's ordinary people doing the modeling. The proceeds go to philanthropic causes around Sun City Center."
She said the group raised more than $5,000 for their other major charity fundraiser, the Liberace impersonator event in November.
In addition to getting ready for their second major fundraiser of the year, some members of the club have formed a new educational sorority.
The club's education committee has expanded its purpose in the education of women by forming Epsilon Sigma Omega (ESO). ESO is an honorary educational sorority for club women.
Cyrille Cobe of Sun City Center, said the reading group plans to meet Jan. 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the McPhillips' home. She thinks books give people a good starting point to philosophical as well as lighthearted conversations.
"All of the women who are participating are avid readers," she said. "It's a fun way to meet with other women who like to read and have stimulating conversations."
Tickets for the fashion show are $25 and are available from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Atrium.
