Sun City author Michael J. Deeb continues his saga of the Drieborg family and the Civil War in Duty Accomplished.

After escaping from Andersonville prison, Union Major Michael Drieborg spent some time recuperating at his parent's farm but was called to Washington. He was reassigned to start working with Congressman Kellogg's Joint Committee on the conduct of the war. Michael is particularly interested in working with recently liberated Union war prisoners and in helping them get proper care. Michael also has some personal worries of his own as old enemies try to kill not only him, but his family. As the war ends he hopes to get back home, but his unit is sent to the Dakota Indian Territory. When Michael and his unit are captured by the Indians, their lives are saved by a man he had previously helped. Michael's return home is marred by continuing fears of his old enemy. When a fatal "accident" kills his wife and child he seeks revenge, but in achieving it, he will have to seek a different life.

The Quilter's Kitchen by Jennifer Chiaverlni is as much a cookbook as a story. Anna Del Maso has always wanted to be a chef. She has also always loved quilting. Anna is delighted when she is offered a job as head chef for Elm Creek Quilts in Pennsylvania. Anna hopes eventually to be accepted as a real friend as well as a worker as she begins her job at the inn. But the kitchen requires a complete renovation and Anna is working with Master Quilter Sylvia Bergstrom Compson to dismantle the old kitchen. As they work Sylvia reminisces about the old traditions of the past and how food was often involved in her memories. The past and present merge as old recipes are found and as Sylvia and Anna recall much of the food from their different pasts and plan to use their memories to plan future meals and parties. Recipes included in this book range from interesting casseroles to mouth- watering cookies which are not often found in today's recipe books.
