It might not be a vacant lot, but the men of the Sun City Center Softball Club still get together for weekly preseason pick-up softball games. During a recent game on the Community Hall field, two teams of 13 played, captained by players Jim Delia and Barry Kolin. The league plays three, 14-game seasons, taking the winter off, with playoffs in the fall. Ranging in age from the late 50s to late 80s, club president Don Senk, 88, said when the club started, only 10 players came out and they played five men per side. There are now 126 players registered for the 2009-10 season.
