Groomer Pampers Pretty Pups For Holiday

Linda Cardamone, the owner of the Three Legged Poodle in Sun City Center, said pets love to be pampered for the holidays, but Christmas is not the best time to adopt a new pet.

Cardamone said she often recommends Norma Gordon's Cruzin' K9 Cuts mobile pet grooming services for people who are looking for convenience.

"Norma is wonderful," Cardamone said. "To have your pet prettied up for the holidays is always nice. It's also nice to get holiday photos taken with your pet."

Instead of adopting a new pet during the hectic holiday time, Cardamone suggests giving a stuffed animal and writing a note about acquiring a new pet after the holidays.

"I think the holidays are a very bad time to get a pet," she said. "It's best to wait until after the holidays. Pets need to feel safe and secure. With all the people coming in and out, it's very stressful for pets."

Cardamone said holiday decorations, chocolate and poisonous plants such as poinsettias are dangerous for pets that require a lot of supervision during the hectic holidays.

Gordon, who started her mobile pet salon two years ago, said she sells gift certificates for holiday gift giving.

"A lot of people have called from out of state to set up grooming for their loved ones' dogs," Gordon said. "A lot of nursing homes allow pets and I groom there also."

For the holidays, Gordon dresses up male dogs with Christmas neckties, and gives female dogs Christmas bows and ruffles around their neck.

Her services include washing, brushing, grooming nails and helping pups look pretty. She serves people with pets living in Sun City Center as well as the surrounding area.
