Getting Stuffed At Freedom Plaza

Published: December 3, 2008

Turkeys are not the only things getting stuffed at this time of year. Stockings are waiting to be filled with those singular, unexpected treats that, somehow, make this bright season even brighter. At Freedom Plaza we call those stocking stuffers "holiday entertainment specials" and our communal Christmas stocking is brimming with them.

Some of our holiday specials come in the form of excursions. The first, in early December, takes a group of residents to Ft. Myers for a three-day trip which includes a dinner train ride, a boat cruise and a performance of "White Christmas" at the Broadway Palms Dinner Theater. Next comes the Living Christmas Tree presentation at First Baptist Church of Sarasota; then it's the "Heralds of Harmony" Barbershop Chorus Christmas Show at TBPAC. "The Sights and Sounds of Christmas" at Hudson's Performing Arts Center, the Victorian Stroll at Tampa's Plant Museum and a night ride through near-by communities to see the Christmas lights round out the December excursion calendar.

At home, on the Freedom Plaza stage, those "stocking stuffers" specials will be especially dazzling, for they bring that brightest of all Christmas lights, the matchless sparkle of children's eyes. Live sugar plum fairies from Judy's

Dance Academy in Valrico will trip across the stage on Dec. 12, and the Herald Angles themselves, will be rivaled when fresh, young voices of students from East Bay Christian School ring out on Dec. 16.

The parade of little Christmas angels continues when "Lew & Ellen" (Lew Ressigue and Ellen Kleinschmidt) bring the PACK (Performing Arts Club Kids) along for their exciting Holiday Show on Dec. 18.

Because our Freedom Plaza Christmas stocking is so thoroughly stuffed with holiday treats, there is reason for sharing, which always makes any treat even better.

So, if you would like to enjoy any of these holiday entertainment specials with us, please call (813) 642-1213 or (813) 642-1215 for more information
